Brillouin scattering at high pressure: an overview
نویسنده
چکیده
Brillouin scattering allows the determination of acoustic velocities and adiabatic elastic moduli in matter. These data are crucial in many areas of science, such as fundamental physics, geosciences and technology, especially when measured as a function of the density (pressure). In this paper, we present a review of the work performed on Brillouin scattering under high pressure in diamond anvil cells, emphasizing the most recent results. Analysis of Steady-State Brillouin Nonlinearity in High-Power Fiber Lasers
In the present work, a theoretical analysis of the first-order of stimulatedBrillouin scattering (SBS) in a double-clad (DC) ytterbium (Yb)-doped silica fiber laserin unidirectional pumping mode is presented. An accurate simulation for calculating SBS nonlinearity is performed by considering thecoupled differential rate equations for pump, signal and Stokes powers, as wel...
متن کاملDistributed Pressure and Temperature Sensing Based on Stimulated Brillouin Scattering
Brillouin scattering has been verified to be an effective mechanism in temperature and strain sensing. This kind of sensors can be applied to civil structural monitoring of pipelines, railroads, and other industries for disaster prevention. This thesis first presents a novel fiber sensing scheme for long-span fully-distributed pressure measurement based on Brillouin scattering in a side-hole fi...
متن کاملElastic Properties in High Pressure ICe•VII Phase
The pressure dependences of sound velocities, refractive index and elastic constants in ice-VII phase have been determined up to 8 GPa at 300 K by high-pressure Brillouin spectroscopy developed for a single molecular crystal grown in a diamond anvil cell. The Cauchy relation of C12=C44 was found at each pressure. This result suggests that the interactions between the oxygen atoms can be describ...
متن کاملELASTIC CONSTANTS OF ICE Ih, UP TO 2.8 KBAR, BY BRILLOUIN SPECTROSCOPY
The technique of high resolution Brillouin spectroscopy has been used to determine accurately the hydrostatic pressure dependence of the elastic constants of ice Ih in the full pressure range of phase stability 0 2.8 kbar. The percentage changes in the adiabatic elastic constants c,,, cI2. cI3, cS3, c,, and bulk modulus, over the pressure range, are 3.0, 7.2, 8.4, 2.8, -1.5 and 5.6 percent per ...
متن کاملCoherent Rayleigh-brillouin Scattering in Monatomic Gases in the Kinetic Regime
Coherent Rayleigh-Brillouin scattering (CRBS) in krypton at room temperature and moderate pressure has been studied experimentally. The experimental data is in good agreement with the theoretical lineshape developed by the authors. In this paper, we describe the details of the experiment. We also discuss the application of coherent Rayleigh-Brillouin scattering in gas diagnostics.
